The Chinese consumer may be key to future business opportunities (and not just in retail –, but how to unlock the door?

Different approaches to the challenge have been in teh news over the past week (see @ChinaBlogTweets on Twitter) – from Lane Crawford ( – designers, Chengdu & T2), and Ikea ( – free coffee and cost cutting with increased competition).

Chengdu sounds like it is ripe for a visit but, like the FT, I “would be interested in knowing what Ikea’s operating margins in China are like”…
