Different approaches to the challenge have been in teh news over the past week (see @ChinaBlogTweets on Twitter) – from Lane Crawford (http://bit.ly/16qHql3 – designers, Chengdu & T2), and Ikea (http://on.ft.com/16qIiWV – free coffee and cost cutting with increased competition).

Chengdu sounds like it is ripe for a visit but, like the FT, I “would be interested in knowing what Ikea’s operating margins in China are like”…
